Contact your representatives. UPDATED! - (7/28/2011)

Brothers & Sisters,

The debate in Washington DC about the debt ceiling will affect all of us due to proposed cuts in funding for critical construction projects. It is time for us to take action to protect our interests as working class Americans. I am urging all members of Local 525 to contact our congressmen and senators and encourage them to put aside politics and work on a balanced plan to save our country.

Let them know that you support a deal that includes significant spending cuts, provided that there are also provisions to end tax breaks to millionaires and the closure of loopholes for corporate extravagances. The middle class working Americans should not bear the country's debt and deficit burdens alone.

It is critically important that members of congress hear from you directly. Please be proactive, contact the following members of congress and let them know that you want them to come up with a balanced plan to the debt ceiling/ deficit reduction issue that requires everyone, including the wealthy, to pay their fair share.

UPDATE! As of 3:00 pm we have spoken to both Congresswoman Berkley and Senator Reid. They understand and fully support our position. Unfortunately we have not heard back from Congressman Heck or Senator Heller. It is time to step up our calls and e-mails until we receive a response!
